Slight detour

So I never thought that I’d get the chance to tag both Beware of Safety and wine in a single post…  After wrapping up in San Francisco circa 1 am, we drove about 2 hours north.  At around 4, am we finally got to bed.  Little did I know I was down the road from one of my favorite winemakers – Ledson!  Slight detour…  This was Steve’s first wine tasting.  We started off with one of their Pinots, which had a great dark nose and incredibly light finish.  Moving on, we tried some of the Old Vine Zins.  Much thicker, but like all of Ledson’s wines, supremely refined.  The Cabs were all deep, dark, and smooth – drink now bottles.  Grabbed a bottle of the Petite Syrah: dark flavors, spiced nose, but not overpoweringly fruit.  Sweet Ida May and Mes Tres Amores are just as good as I remember.  I think those are still laying low in the cellar with the Ancient Vine Zins I have.

I may have ruined Steve’s wine tasting in the future by starting him on this high of a bar.

Oh well.
